Four candidates have qualified to fill the Florida State Representative seat in Palm Beach County.

According to the Florida Division of Elections, Democratic candidate Rob Long, Republican candidates Bill Reicherter and Maria Zack and independent candidate Karen Yeh have qualified to be part of the special election for District 90.

The seat became open after incumbent Joe Casello, 73, died on July 18 after suffering a heart attack.

Casello served in the Florida House of Representatives since 2018.

District 90 includes portions of Boynton Beach and Delray Beach. Since there are two Republican candidates, a special primary election will be held on Sept. 30 between the two GOP candidates.

The winner of the primary will join the other remaining candidates in the special election on Dec. 9.
